Presidents Report
Dear Members,

Once again I’m pleased to announce another successful year for our Club. As you are aware we’ve had an additional burden of the poker machine tax however, we were still able to produce a net profit for year ending 30th June, 2006 of over $300,000. The last three months of the financial year May, June and July 2006 were the best months of trading in our Club’s history. This has been achieved without passing on price increases to our members. We still provide food and entertainment of a high quality and at affordable prices, an achievement this Board is proud of.

Plans are in progress to provide two outside terraces to meet the non smoking legislation effective 2007. As soon as the plans are approved by Council they will be displayed in the Club foyer.

Other changes to affect the Club are the new Industrial Relations reforms which has been prevalent in the news recently. It’s not the Board’s intention to exploit our employees by implementing workplace agreements to the determent of their wages, as we are all aware of the ever increasing cost of living including petrol prices & interest rate rises. The Board has agreed that this is not the time to penalize our employees who are doing a fine job.

Our members free senior citizens day concert will be held Sunday 12th November, 3.30pm. Remember to book early as seating is limited.

The effort to purchase the freehold title to the land of the Club stands on is still in progress.
I hope to expand on this information further at the AGM on Sunday 19th November, 2006.

Before closing I must thank the Board of Directors for their strong commitment to the progress of our Club. The Board has worked as a team since coming to office and proof is in the financial improvement during this time. I would like to say a personal thank you to our Treasurer Jim Nile, Sports Committee Director Connie Hickford , Rein Ujuk- Fun Day Co ordinator, Ken Hutton – Entertainment Director assisted by Evelyn Salghetti, and our youngest Director Luke Lupeski. I would like to congratulate them for there input to the progress of the Club.

To all our staff I would like to say thank you for your efforts in working hard to retain a happy and friendly Club.

We have enormous activities happening at the Club between now and the New Year, I look forward to seeing you. In closing the Board and Management wish you all a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.

Noel Scanlon
PRESIDENT.
