Dear Sir,

I believe that what I am going to write in this letter represents the majority of senior citizens who attended the free concert organised by Bankstown Trotting Club on Sunday 28th March.

On arrival to the Auditorium we were greeted at the door by a couple of lovely ladies who issued vouchers for a free drink and a ticket for hampers that would be raffled that night after the concert. That was a pleasant surprise in addition to the free concert. The finger food was excellent, tasty and would satisfy any hungry person.

The entertainment was excellent and artists received deservedly a standing ovation. Such quality entertainment and meal would cost quiet a lot of money for the club. This proves again the value and roll of a club that provides benefit to the community.

As a volunteer in the course of my duties I have attended various functions that the councils provide for the seniors. With due respects to the council efforts which have been commendable the Bankstown Trotting Recreational Club has outshone them all.

Under the current Management and Board structure it appears that the Bankstown Trotting Club is and hopefully will in the future overcome the governments tax squeeze and will be able to provide the local community with facilities and assistance for specific and various projects that require such assistance.

I was most impressed to see the large crowd of seniors who enjoyed the afternoon concert and left very happy and satisfied. Besides the various accolades expressed above for the excellent concert the recognition, courtesy and appreciation of the old folk that have given so much to make this country such as it is today is appreciated. At least we know that some of the younger folk recognise and extend their courtesy to their elders.

Thank you again on behalf of all of us who attended and we hope that there will be more of such functions in the future.

Mr Noel Scanlon,

I would like to extend my appreciation to you and your Club for once again sponsoring the Frail Aged Concert in Bankstown’s 2004 Seniors Week during March this year. Feedback has indicated that everyone enjoyed themselves and the day went very smoothly.

Your sponsorship and assistance is always appreciated and I personally thank you for your continued support.

Seniors Week is a very special week for many of our residents and I know that they look forward to this special week of activities, particularly the frail aged who do not get many opportunities to attend such functions.

Once again, thank you and best wishes,

Clr Helen Westwood
Mayor of Bankstown.
